Apuleius

It appears that Apuleius was found worthy enough to be pictured on an ancient coin of some kind. This was a Parisian coin found in a Swedish Queen's collection.
I like Apuleius' Address to the Reader at the beginning of The Golden Ass. In just two short paragraphs he tells us so much about himself.
First he admits and allows for some who might not like stories in which humans change to animals. Next he uses some humor, if not humility telling us that this "queer novel" is for our ears only.
Then he gives us some personal background (which we are later to read is not actually true). This just gives us a little more to think about,
He ends with an apology for his style along with his suggestion, "Now read on and enjoy yourself!"
I did, and I am.
